Witness the spooky Halloween Parade in Galway

Halloween in Galway City culminates in one spooky night this October Bank Holiday Weekend. As the traditional Trick or Treating may not be your way to celebrate, enjoy a street festival in the city.

Macnas, meaning playful in native Gaeilge, is a theatre company in Galway. The company productions are immersive for all, with interactive performances. The repertoire includes parades, shows, film and installations.

The Halloween Parade is the standout event of the company. Thousands line the streets of the city for the spooky fest. Giant puppets overlook the crowd with an eerie history brought to life by moonlight. The family friendly horror experience

History of the Galway Halloween Parade

There is a haunted history of the street celebrations in Galway. Just last year, the legend of La Loba took the streets. Cnámha La Loba was a production about a wild Wolf-Woman who wanders the world.

Take a look at how the streets come alive, the white skulls of the Macnas parade and the stories of executions ring out.

The installations of Macnas are symbolic of Irish mythology. Fisheries Field was visited by Con Mór, The Giant. This led to a race of excitement and even filled news headlines! People rushed away from the city streets to line the banks of the river Corrib.

All of the world, explorers were baffled by an ancient giant living under the banks of the river.
