Every October Bank Holiday weekend, Galway’s Latin Quarter transforms for the Aboo Festival—one of Ireland’s biggest Halloween celebrations. It’s lively, free, and packed with events across the weekend:

  • Friday – The Demented Carnival: Oversized carnival games and street performances that are equal parts eerie and entertaining.
  • Saturday – The Big Fancy Dress Party: Mainguard Street, High Street, and Quay Street turn into a Halloween catwalk. Spot prizes for the boldest looks.
  • Sunday – Family Day & Parade: Trick-or-treat trails, traditional games, and a massive Thriller dance at the Spanish Arch.
  • Sunday @ 5:30PM – Macnas Parade: Fire, puppets, live music and storytelling take over Galway city centre. Don’t miss it.
