Featuring sharks, eels that are 2 meters in length as well as fresh water species and a ray pool where you can get up close and personal. Leisure Land on the Salthill promenade is a great rainy day activity, one of Galway’s most popular swimming pools which features a kid’s pool with a pirate ship, which the kids love. It also features a gym for any fitness fanatic parents and has large green areas right outside for picnics on sunny days.

An unmissable feature on the prom at Salthill, Leave the kids off the leash for an hour after a long day at the beach. With bumpers cars, scary ghost rides and roller coasters they’ll be run off their feet and sure to sleep after a long day.
Leisure Land also offers outdoor crazy golf. A full 9 hole crazy golf course with some near impossible fares. Perfect for a family competition or some good quality bonding. Crazy golf is an ideal break on those hot days to get away from the crowds and something a bit different for the kids.
The Prom & Beach
The Prom and the beach are Salthills main attractions. W walkway leading the whole way from the city center often attracts thousands of people on a Sunny day. Buckets and spades are available in most shops so the kids can entertain themselves by building sand castles, swimming in the sea and fishing for small marine life while you relax and take in the view of the Burren and Galway bay.
Kicking The Wall
Kinging the wall is a traditional walk along Salthills promenade, the idea is that you walk the length of the prom and at the end there is a wall you are meant to kick that brings you good luck. It’s a local tradition and if you are at the end of the promo you will be guaranteed to see a few locals kicking this wall come rain or shine
Salthill Park (Claude Toft Park)
Sick of the hardship sand brings, the park in Salthill is full of playground equipment from monkey bars and fireman poles to the more traditional sea saws and swings. The soft padded ground makes it a safe environment for kids to run around and burn off some energy.
Blackrock Diving Tower
Blackrock diving tower is a popular spot for teens on hot days. With several different heights to jump from and steps allowing you to enter the water at your own will the diving tower is a popular destination. The diving tower is located near the end of prom close to the kicking wall. It is only safe to jump when the tide is in.
A treat for the kids only a few minutes from Salthill is Rusheen Bay windsurfing center where they have a number of activities including kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and windsurfing. They also have summer camp which can keep the kids busy while you enjoy a relaxing break.
