Galway International Arts Festival

The Galway International Arts festival is Ireland’s largest annual arts festival. Founded in 1978, the festival presents an international programme of theatre, spectacle, dance, visual arts, music, literature & comedy involving hundreds of artists and performers.

The Galway International Arts festival takes place this year from the 13th to the 26th July. For this year’s festival, Galway  Arts Festival have launched its largest, and most ambitious programme to date to mark its 40th Festival. This year's festival includes a number of theatre premiers, one of the biggest musical line ups ever at the festival and a very exciting free programme. The festival will feature artists and companies from Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Iceland, UK, USA, Sierra Leone, South Korea, South Africa, Syria and The Netherlands and Ireland to create what promises to be an unforgettable event for all ages.

This years music highlights for the festival include Brian Wilson, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Passenger, Gavin James, The Coronas and Jenny Greene and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra’s Dance Anthems. This years festival theatre highlights feature the world premiere of Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival’s Woyzeck in Winter, The Second Violinist a new opera by Donnacha Dennehy and Enda Walsh,  Bathroom by Enda Walsh,  Druid production of Crestfall by Mark O’Rowe and  Abbey Theatre’s production of Two Pints.  This year's arts festival presents spectacular street art in the form of  Chariot of the Sea by Transe Express and the dazzling Olivier Grossetête’s architectural installation The People Build will astound audiences this summer.
